Ombelico di Venere

£1,450.00

Ombelico di Venere (The Belly Button of Venus) by Filippo Muzi Falconi, made in clay, shell and wood.

Drawing on fertility figurines from ancient Greece, Etruscan culture and Anatolia, the work reinterprets the female body as a wider symbol of abundance, renewal and the fertility of the natural world. Its womb-like centre and organic crown are joined by the form of the shell, evoking both a threshold and a votive offering.

The Hensby workshop presents the work of a small circle of independent makers as part of a wider collection. Their pieces are sold and exhibited alongside those made by Matthew.
