Trainee furniture maker
I welcome hearing from people who are interested in joining the workshop as a trainee furniture maker. There is no specific vacancy or timetable for this, but in time I am keen to find the right person to join the workshop.
I am interested in finding someone at the beginning of their furniture-making career. They should be able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to traditional furniture making, a very keen eye for detail and a willingness to start with the fundamentals and build their way up.
I am particularly interested in someone who wants to establish a lasting place within the workshop, developing their skills and gradually taking on more responsibility over time.
Formal training in furniture making would be an advantage, but is not essential. What matters most is a demonstrable interest in learning and real care for how things are made.
If you would like to introduce yourself, please send a short note about your background and what draws you to traditional furniture making, together with a small selected portfolio of work that demonstrates your interest and your attention to construction, finish and detail.
Matthew.
