Founded by furniture maker Matthew Hensby, the workshop was set up with a belief that traditional craftsmanship can hold a lasting place within contemporary furniture making.

As well as work made by Matthew, the workshop champions pieces by makers connected to the space, or whose work sits naturally within its wider ethos. All work shown through Hensby is distinguished by its quality, clarity of design and sensitivity to material.

The workshop itself is home to a small group of independent makers working alongside one another. Together they bring a breadth of professional experience across contemporary craft, furniture making and design-led production. This allows Hensby to take on ambitious projects that draw on a broad range of knowledge and skill held within the workshop.
