Carved Sideboard
The Carved Sideboard brings together the language of traditional chairmaking and refined cabinetry.
Each of the front slats is shaped individually by hand with a drawknife, using a process more commonly associated with Windsor chairmaking. Brought together across the cabinet front, they create a carved, faceted surface with a strong tactile quality.
Behind this handmade surface, the piece is constructed as fine cabinetry, with a hand-cut dovetailed carcass, brass knife hinges and a discreet push-to-open mechanism that allows the carved front to remain uninterrupted.
The example shown here was made in British quarter-sawn oak and measures L200cm H80cm D50cm.
